Banana Coloring Page — Free Printable for Home and Classroom

A bunch of bananas drawn in thick, uncluttered outlines 🍌 The curved shapes are easy for small hands to follow, which makes this a good early coloring page: yellow for the fruit and green or brown for the stem is all it takes to finish it. A useful sheet for nursery groups and for anyone talking with children about everyday food.

Why are bananas curved?

A banana begins growing downward and then turns and grows upward as it fills out — a response to gravity, with light playing a part as well. The curve is the record of that turn. The tidy old line that the fruit is simply reaching for the sun is only part of the story.

Where do the bananas sold in Japan come from?

Most of them are grown in the Philippines, with smaller shares coming from Ecuador, Mexico and other countries in Central and South America. They are picked while still green and travel by refrigerated ship, ripening on the way or after arrival — which is why they reach the shop firm rather than bruised.

Is a banana peel really slippery?

Yes, and measurably so. The inside of the peel holds a gel that is crushed out underfoot and cuts friction sharply; researchers have actually put numbers to it. The cartoon gag turns out to have a basis in fact, which makes it a fair moment to remind children not to drop peels on the floor.
