Why do rabbits have such long ears?

A rabbit’s long ears help it hear distant sounds and detect predators early. The ears are also full of blood vessels, letting the rabbit regulate its body temperature by moving them — spreading the ears wide releases heat on hot days.

Is the rabbit one of the twelve zodiac animals?

Yes, the rabbit is the fourth of the twelve zodiac animals, representing the “Year of the Rabbit.” In Japan, the pattern on the moon is said to look like a rabbit pounding mochi, and rabbits have long been cherished as a symbol of good fortune.

What do rabbits eat?

Rabbits are herbivores that eat hay (such as timothy grass), vegetables, and pellet food. Because their digestive systems are delicate, careful diet management matters. Rabbits also eat some of their own droppings — a behavior called cecotrophy — to reabsorb nutrients from their gut.
