A coloring page of a mother orca and her calf swimming side by side. A good pick for children who love sea animals, and easy to use in preschool craft sessions or at home. Free to download and print.
🐋 What is the difference between an orca and a whale?
The orca, or killer whale, is in fact the largest member of the dolphin family — and dolphins themselves are toothed whales. It is smaller than the great whales, but it has teeth and hunts other animals, which makes it the top predator of the ocean.
🌊 Where do orcas live?
Orcas are found in every ocean on Earth, from the Arctic to the Antarctic and through the warm seas in between. They turn up off the coast of Japan from time to time as well.
🎨 Any tips for coloring the water?
Keep the water pale near the top of the page and deepen the blue towards the bottom, and the sea will start to look deep. Adding a few white bubbles, or drawing small fish around the edges, finishes off the underwater feeling.
