Where do budgerigars come from?

Budgerigars are native to Australia. In the wild, they live in flocks across grasslands and dry regions, feeding on grass seeds. They’re the most popular pet parakeet in Japan and come in a wide variety of colors.

Can budgerigars learn to talk?

Budgerigars are skilled mimics and can learn human words through repeated exposure. Some can even pick up short phrases, not just single words. Males are generally said to learn words more easily than females.

What’s the difference between a parakeet and a parrot?

Parakeets and parrots (cockatoos) both belong to the order Psittaciformes, but birds with a crest of feathers on top of their head are classified as cockatoos, while those without are parakeets. Budgerigars are parakeets; the white cockatoo is a well-known example of the crested group.
